- Be careful not to make your titles SUPERSIZED. Often a job seeker has a justified title however it can be prohibitive when they're seeking new employment. If your search is going well, try Senior instead of Principal. Or Lead instead of Manager. You'd be surprised how these little changes make a huge difference
- What's your email? Get rid of that long or outdated email. I have seen some wild emails and I can tell you they are a RED LIGHT. Get rid of the funky emails and make sure you're sharing a nice, short, professional email on your resume.
- SHOW YOUR LOCATION! Recruiters are Hiring Managers will pass you by if they can't tell where you are
- Work for it! Please take an extra 5 minutes and tweak your resume before you hit submit. Lazy effort will get lazy results
- Profile Pic. In today's world we're led to believe profile pics don't matter. Of course they do! Linkedin won't even let you use an image that's not real anymore. An approachable headshot that's appropriate and professional gets the edge.
- What's your aim? Make sure you have a convincing story as to why you want to leave. So many Hiring Manager's get burned by offers that back out. Curiosity is ok but WANTING to work at the company for SPECIFIC reasons that are beyond just " I like the product" makes all the difference
- ALWAYS ASK FOR $5k MORE. Countless offers go to waste because companies want you to "give up" a little to be bought in. Play this game! Let them think you're giving in but accepting $5k less. I've seen countless offers go to waste because of $5k. Funny enough this amount hasn't changed in a decade!
